I knew Kathy. She was so easy going and had a super sweet personality. But, I remember always calling her Kathleen in school.

May it be your best year yet, Kay.  And thx for being on the team that tries to keep  us all connected, which I know must be like herding cats (but we are BearCATS).  Happy birthday!

If all these wishes are an indication of how the year will go, I've already topped last year! Thanks George. I guess everyone can agree, though,  this year sucked.

Wishing you the best of all Birthdays,  Own it, like you do girlie, and make it your special day!

Thanks Laurena!

WOW! Just went to supper and came back and found all these wonderful messages. Thanks guys!  Herding cats - that's a hoot.  So blessed to be born in such a great time. Thanks to all our classmates for your good wishes!

Ya'll got any good Halloween pictures you can share with the class?  Also, how would you handle distribution of Halloween candy this year. Our neighborhood will be Trick-or-Treating and some have suggested leaving bags of candy on table in front yard. I don't like that idea. Any other ideas? Others have suggested using tongs and gloves. Advice will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Lyn and Bobby!

Thanks Lyn!  I envy you up there in Maggie.  How's the color? My brother is up there shutting down the RV park for the winter, turning off everybody's water and getting ready for the cold winter. Seen any elk this year? Hello to Bobby.

Happy Birthday Kay!,, we can celebrate as long as we wish. Besides, who knows what day it really is. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‚๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿฆ๐ŸทBest Wishes,  Anne.&nbs>

We can keep this going through Christmas, ok with me!  I'm overwhelmed with everyone's well wishes. Thanks guys.  It is getting harder to tell what day it is.  You can't even tell by watching TV cause "Gunsmoke" is on all day/everyday on any channel. Maybe I should change it up and try another channel.  I have seen every Mash, Friends, Last Man Standing, Adam 12, I Love Lucy, and Andy Griffith for the past 60 years. I thought I would start a Gunsmoke marathon and see how long I can go with that. I bet I can make it to the next birthday. I raise a glass to you Anne!

Kay, the weather this weekend was absolutely beautiful in the mountains. We went to the Apple Harvest Festival in Waynesville and an arts/crafts event in Maggie.  The maple trees are turning their usual gorgeous red but not much color with the other trees.  We did not see any critters this trip but on our last trip up about 3 weeks ago we saw two elk and had a black bear come to Bob's feeder in our yard three times.

Kay Manning (Elrod)

The most perfect mountain weekend!  Thanks for the update for those of us not so fortunate.  I can smell those apples now - umm!

What kind of feeder does Bob have? Do you have a camera on it?  I saw on the news where the traffic was horrible!  Sounds like our mountains will have a great fall/winter season. Stay healthy!

OK, Kay,

I see your Halloween costume so am posting mine and Russell's from a few years ago at a neighborhood party. Anyone else want to post yours? Feel free to share family photos too if you so desire. We see in South Park some folks are decorating outside their homes.  Becky

Happy COVID Halloween everyone.

Ya'll are adoreable! (Mine was Face In Hole) I did not recognize you at all. My street has quite a lot of porch decorations and we expect little trick-or-treaters to come  this year - not in groups as before, but just some kids and parents.  Everyone says they will put out a bowl of candy in llittle bags for them to pick for themselves. Many plan to sit in the driveway or on porches with a glass of medicinal wine or a beer and watch the kids. That sounds like fun. We do that often when something is going on around here (unless, of course, it involves police.)

Today, there was a black limo parked down the street and white balloons tied on everyone's mailboxes within a 2-block distance and bridesmaids all dressed up trying to get the bride to the church on time. It was so touching.  I still remember my wedding day......I'm sure you all do. Very special!

What a beautiful day in the neighborhood.....

Cheryl Pope Bumgarner has been helping with our website behind the scenes over these past years. She has located fellow classmates and forwarded their information on to Kay, Dee and myself. We then shared the information with you. Cheryl was instrumental in helping locate classmates when the reunion committee sent out our 50th class reunion invitations.

Cheryl has agreed to serve as an official consultant to our class. She will be proactively searching for missing Bearcats with my assistance. As we head into Spring 2021 and make decisions about our 55th reunion, we hope to locate more missing classmates.

We need your help. Please look at the list of missing Bearcats (see the tab on homepage) and let Cheryl know if you have any information about those on the list. She is a master sleuth and has resources to dig a little deeper to find missing classmates. Any information you know of will be a big help.

Please join me in welcoming Cheryl to the website team!

Becky

Cheryl and Becky, Billy Brakefield's last name is misspelled on the Missing Bearcats list. To my knowledge he and his wife live in Rock Hill.

Lyn Jackson wanted to share these pictures with the class taken at their home in Maggie Valley. The bear visited Bob's feeder several times.  These are fabulous photos, Lyn, thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your hours given to locating "lost" Bearcats, Cheryl.  I am sure I am only one of many grateful for your efforts.

George, I speak for all of us when I say your encouragement means so much. It's not easy sometimes competing with Facebook and keeping things moving in a positive direction.  We appreciate everyone's input and contributions!  Would love to have more pictures of our classmates.  Kay
