December 10, 1947 - November 5, 2021
Rock Hill, South Carolina - Brenda Elaine Beard Starnes, 73, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 5, 2021 surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, November 8, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 820 North Jones Avenue, Rock Hill, SC. Visitation will be with family and friends prior to the service at the church from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm and at other times at the home of her daughter, Kimberly Harvell in Rock Hill.
Brenda was born on December 10, 1947 in Sharon, South Carolina to John Russell Beard and Sarah Erwood Beard. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alfred "Al" Starnes. She was a fierce lover of her family. She imparted a foundation of faith that will forever be imprinted on our hearts, and has not only profoundly impacted the lives of her children and grandchildren, but will continue for all future generations to come. She was a devoted advocate for animals & she shared her heart and home with many over the years. She loved to spend her time perusing the isles of Goodwill, looking for "finds" for her family and seeing the many friends that she had made there over the years. She loved the holidays and passed down her joy for cooking and baking to her family, especially her recipes for her traditional cornbread dressing and chocolate cake. She was a mixture of strength, resilience, grit, stubbornness, selflessness, loyalty, and a deep affection that never gave up and always persevered for those she loved. Her steadfast presence was the bedrock of our family and was a treasured inheritance that she gifted to each of us. III John 1:4 says, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth."
Brenda is survived by her brother, Winfred Lamond Beard; her three children; Lisa (Brian) Hovis, Robbie (Eleanor) Sanford, and Kimberly Harvell; her seven grandchildren that she dearly loved and cared for throughout the years, Matthew (Kendra) Hovis, Emma (Luke) Hovis Rape , Neely (Reese) Sanford, Mallory (Jay) Harvell Martin, Chloe Sanford, Isaac Harvell, and Harper Sanford; her four great-grandchildren, Jace and Liam Hovis, Hollis and Skip Rape.
In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to Providence Care Hospice LLC, Rock Hill and Calvary Baptist Church, Rock Hill, S.C.
