Betty Mathis texted today to share the sad news that our friend and fellow classmate Bubba Taylor passed away at 2:00 a.m. this morning, Sunday, June 1, 2014. Bubba had an aneurysm several weeks ago and now has been taken from us too soon. Don't actually remember dating Bubba but sure did consider him a friend.  He use to bring me packs of Kents to Charlotte when Deanna Ratteree, Brenda Simmons, Linda Campbell and myself shared an apartment  while attending King's College.  I was fortunate the run into him at the cafeteria in Myrtle Beach awhile back and it was good to see him.  I hope his family knows that many share their sorrow.  We had a great class and have lost some very special classmates.

Always sad to hear of an old friends passing. He was such a "Cool" guy in high school and lots of fun. As Barbara mentioned, Bubba brought Kent's when we lived together and since we were roommates, she shared with me! Those were the days when smoking was considered "Cool". Also remember Bubba smoking a special pipe a lot in those days!

I lost contact with Bubba but am grateful he is part of happy time memories!  Thoughts and prayers go to his family. I hope they are comforted by knowing he is remembered by old friends as being unforgettable...

I remember Bubba.  Yes, Bubba had a cool walk and demeanor, but I also remember his kind smile and eyes and his sweet disposition and kindness and gentle disposition.  Like so many of our fellow classmates, he will be missed and thought of with love and respect.  I am sending of prayers and thoughts for his family and thanking God for the opportunity to be a part of those happy times and to have those warm memories to carry in my heart and soul.  Dianne Melton

To answer Mike Woodall's question about the nickname " Spoon"  when he first moved from York, we thought he looked like a spoon so that became his name as far as we were concerned. We dubbed Charles Ferguson as "Crane" since he reminded us of one. Not sure if I was stuck with such complimentary names but we we did that because we really liked each other a lot

May he rest in peace. We miss you.

Yes, Bubba and his high school friends were always cool. He was fun to know and be around.  He will surely be missed. I believe he came to our 10, 15 or 20 year class reunion in a white suit, gorgeous girl,s and a limo!!  I believe Tommy Taylor did the same!!  Some of the committee members should remember this.  Too much fun!!

We have kept in touch over all these years thru Tiny Tee Golf on Cherry Road, his clubs, Daddy's Money and I believe Celebrations on camden avenue, fun at the beach, dinners with him & Wool (Mark)  and golf with Michael.  He will surely be missed.

We are attending the memorial Saturday.
