Rock Hill, SC – Thomas Cornelious Sanders (Butch), 74, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2020.
Born in Rock Hill, SC he is the son of the late Thomas M. Sanders and Vergie Starnes Sanders.
Mr. Sanders is retired from Steele Mechanical Company of Lancaster, SC. He was a member of the Catawba Indian Nation where he served as an Executive Tribal Leader. He was the Liaison for the Headstart and Housing Construction of the Tribe. He also played softball for may years for Bailey’s Gulf.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Burton Sanders; 3 daughters, Mary Evelyn Hatfield (Tony), Deborah Jean Sanders Smith (Bart), Cheyenne Sanders Drakeford (Donnie); 2 brothers, Randy Sanders (Tammy) and Charlie Sanders; 3 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren and his Traveling Golden Girl, Gale Gervais.
Mr. Sanders is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Alice Small Sanders; a sister, Norma Jean Usher and a brother, Willie Mack Sanders.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Grandview Memorial Park Cherry Road.
Memorials may be made to the Catawba Indian Nation Senior Center, 996 Avenue of the Nations, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
