Beck: Good luck with your shots tomorrow!  I didn't know you lived in Red River, but I think Jane should know about this in case they need a quick source of heat for the winter.  They have plenty of trees for fuel.  Stay warm!

Kay, Russell and I changed our appointment so we can go at the same time so going this Wednesday at 7:45am. I thought the appt. was today 2/15 but that was his original appt. Stay tuned! I am anxious to see if we have any side effects. A few folks I know on FB have reported no complications so who knows?

FYI, this afternoon we received an urgent email from Novant that our location on Wednesday is changed from Novant Matthews to Novant Freedom Drive. However, the Matthews' location is still reflected in our personal records on MyChart when we log in. I called the doctor's office for clarification. We are told supplies of Moderna are coming in now and will be delivered to the Matthews location. They are now phasing out Pfizer supplies and dispensing 2nd doses at the Freedom Drive site. Interesting that State and Novant MyChart messaging is not in sync yet. SO if you are getting your 2nd dose of Pfizer in the Charlotte area, you will be going to Freedom Drive at least that is what we have been told. It pays to double check your location.

I signed up for MUSC Lancaster because living at the I.O.P. MUSC was my best choice in the Charleston area. Anyway, I don't get my shots until March 9 and March 31. I signed up on that Wednesday that the Herald published it at 8 in the morning and still had to wait to March. It appears that the Hospitals have the Pfizer and CVS, Publix, Sams have the Merdona ?? Anybody else waiting for their shots ?

Kay Manning (Elrod)

Richy, I'm still waiting.  I am scheduled at Atrium in Charlotte on 3/7. However, Walgreens had a clinic yesterday and said as soon as they get more vaccine they'll have another. Since it is right up the street, I'm hoping for that. They said to check notifications on their web site periodically for appointments and cancellations.  Good luck. Is SC doing the pharmacies yet? Hope you all are staying well and occupied during this stressful time.

Richy - Try this  as it was just announced this afternoon- HT/Kroger giving shots @ Gaillard tomorrow.  harristeeterpharmacy.com

skip the zip code/search for HT location box and go directly to Gaillard box.  I was lucky and got an appointment tomorrow at 5:30.  I have appointment Friday that was ppd from last Friday due to weather and vaccine couldn't get in.  Weather this week is still bad so who knows if it will come in Friday.  After tomorrow's hopeful  success I will cancel my Friday appointment.  Good Luck!

Richy, If you decide to try somewhere else make sure they can schedule your 2nd shot. A couple of friends up here went to Walgreens and after they got their shot were told there could a shortage of 2nd doses. They both got their 2nd, but thats something to keep in mind. I get my second shot this Sat at 12:10, Iredell Memorial in Statesville.

Richy I am also going to MUSC in Lancaster on March 10 and on March 31. I do wish I could get it sooner.

Becky Armstrong (Helms)

This morning we received our 2nd dose of Pfizer. When we arrived at the Freedom Drive location, they told us the email we received about the switch from the Matthews location was sent in error. They had us take a seat with about five others who appeared to be in the same dilemma. They warned there may not be enough supply on hand. Well, it worked out but I think it will be an issue for those with later appointments who do not see the email correction. We saw the email AFTER we left. Other than that first surprise all went well. We took an Advil before leaving home and when we returned home. I figure it can't hurt! If we feel any serious side effects, I will let you know but so far so good.

I had to cancel my 5:30 today because I learned it was all Moderna.  My 1st was Pfizer so Moderna definitely wouldn't work for me.  My prayers are strong and constant that the vaccine will make it to Charleston for my Friday appointment.  I keep telling myself good news is there is a vaccine available.   May take headache getting the appointment but never give upcool

Prayers for Anne Bagley Elliott in Houston.  Snow, cold,  loss of power and water.

Brenda Leazer (Chandler)

I got my 1stshot on Feb.1 in Chester at MUSC. My second shot was scheduled for Feb. 22 but I received a call and an text that it was being postponed until Feb. 25th or 26th due to delivery issues. Hopefully I will get it one of those days. Tony got his second shot today at Atrium in Charlotte. I think they set aside a second dose for people when they received their first. That makes the most sense to assure to be able to complete the series. Good luck to all who have not received anything yet. I feel very fortunate to have received the first shot.

Brenda,

Thanks for the update. Hope you get your 2nd dose sooner than later. With my 2nd dose taken yesterday, I had only some soreness at the injection spot. Woke up this morning feeling fine. Hope everyone else has the same experience. How is Tony feeling today?

Becky

Becky,

He has a fever and is not feeling well in general. He reacted to the first shot also. Hopefully this will be gone by tomorrow as it was the first time. Thanks for asking.

Brenda

In communicating with Roland, he and Nancy are doing well, have a generator, has to shop at 6:00 a.m. for groceries in order to beat the crowds and find stocked shelves. They are doing well so far. Keep them in your prayers.

Wayne Haselden

I was able to get my second Pfizer shot this past Tuesday. No side effects at all. My shoulder didn't even get sore. My wife picked me up at the rehab facility and I was able to get in the car. Getting in the car was not as bad as I had imagined.

I'm scheduled to go home this Wednesday if all goes according to plans. I am ready to get out of rehab. The staff here have taken really good care of me.

I really appreciate all the prayers and encouragement I have received from my fellow classmates and Facebook friends. It has meant a lot to me.

Wayne, it is so good that you're having such a  speedy recovery! It is because of your determination! Glad to hear that you will be home soon. Cheryl

Any word on our Texas classmates with the extreme cold?

David, I posted a message a few hours ago that said Nancy and Roland were doing fine. I haven't spoken to Anne recently. Will check on her.  Roland was without WIFI for a little while but has heat and groceries. They have a whole-house generator. (See note above.) Will keep you posted. Thanks for asking.  Kay

David, here is a brief message from Anne in Kingwood near Houston.

"I have been busy. Power out 2 days, on now, broken water pipes, no supplies as zoo many have the same problem. Fixing that tonight!we girls are going to have dinner and wine! Thanks for your concerns and love."

I guess she has had no heat if she has not had power. Prayers for Anne.

D. Anne Bagley (Elliott)

Yes I have heat. Only lost electricity for 26 hours but it was cold! Not what Texas was prepared for. But weather is supposed to better on Sat. High here in 50's. Snow has melted. Thank you all for concerns and prayers.

Marilyn (Lyn) Baker (Jackson)

Fifty years ago today on a rainy Sunday afternoon Bob and I got married at College Park Baptist Church.  A half century ago!  So hard to believe. Can't say it has always been smooth sailing but the great times have certainly outweighed the bad.  We have been able to visit most of the US states and several foreign countries.  Been on several mission trips in the US and other countries. We have two awesome children and seven precious grandchildren.  Our daughter Tory recently became City Architect for the City of Charleston. Although the rest of her family are still in FL, hopefully we will have them all closer by fall.  Our son Rob and his family are in the process of raising their needed support funds to become foreign missionaries in Portugal.  Our beautiful oldest granddaughter is three months away from graduating from UofL and becoming the ED nurse she feels called to be.  Our other six grandchildren are all smart, beautiful and so loved by their Mimi and Pawpaw.  We have been truly blessed!

Lyn: Thank you for shining some light on what is good and sacred in this world.  What a great life you and Bob have had together, blessed with wonderful children and grandchildren.  Prayers for many more years together with good health and happy hearts.

Sorry for not posting earlier. I got my 2nd dose of Phizer Saturday afternoon and all went well. Just like the 1st, nothing to talk about, not even any soreness where the stuck me. Still gonna play it safe until the all clear is given. I would feel neckid without my trusty face covering when going out in public!!

Good to hear!  The face mask may be with us forever.  It sure helps in cold weather to keep the face warm. I don't know how it's going to work in the summer on the beach - that's going to be an interesting suntan. Maybe Becky can answer that since she recently returned from an island adventure in the Florida Keys.

I suggest a very wide brimmed hat!

Got my 2nd dose of Covid vaccine. Done and done. Until they tell us we have to get a booster. I'm betting we will have to get booster or am annual Covid vaccine.

Good for you, Ruthie!  Stay healthy.  Maybe you'll feel better about getting out and doing things with that protection.  Kay

Message from Cathy Walker Cranford: I have been in hospital since Jan 6. I had 3 heart bypasses. After that got infection in sternum. Had 5 surgeries to remove infected bone. The last surgery was to cover large whole in chest with muscle flap. Hopefully, I am on the mend. Hope to be moved to rehab soon. Please pray for me. Thank you, Cathy
