Thank you Anne and blessings to you. It is always a pleasure to hear from you - you are so optimistic and full of light - an example to us all! Merry Christmas.

This recipe is from a friend who makes it for all her family gatherings - make it and take it. She says it is a big hit. Everyone loves corn!

Please feel free to load your favorite recipe here. We all could use new suggestions for our Christmas holidays. Thanks.

From Kay Manning Elrod, click on the the link below to take you to some great Christmas casserole recipes.

https://www.crispyfoodidea.com/2020/11/delicious-christmas-casserole-recipes.html

My favorite recipe is a cup of Bisquick, an 8-ounce roll of sausage and a cup of spicy cheese of your choice, or mild if you prefer. 20 minutes in the oven at 350 degrees. These sausage and cheese balls are easy to throw together and you have a hot appetizer. You can freeze them. We warm them up for breakfast or a snack too.

Becky, the sausage and cheese balls are a family favorite of ours. Got the recipe from my Mom years ago and make them every Christmas. I make them ahead and freeze. Just as good frozen or freshly made. We also love them for breakfast if any are left.

Concerned for our friends in the path of those terrible tornadoes in the central states, I contacted Scott and Jeanne Martin in St. Louis to see how they were doing. Below is Scott's response. Storms in the St. Louis area left at least 7 people dead. Thank God Jeanne and Scott are fine.  K

Hi Kay, So nice of you to be thinking about us. We are both safe; the tornados that pass through the corridor here typically go north of us. In the entire time we have lived here (46 years), we have never suffered any damage from tornados. The worst we have experienced would be downed tree limbs from high wind gusts. Our heart aches for those who have suffered significant loss from the tornados. It is common for our tornado sirens to go off (tornado warning, meaning that a tornado has been spotted) several times a year, mainly in late summer-early fall. So we move to the lowest level of our house and turn on the TV to see the weather pattern.

On a separate note, moving to the lowest level was a bit difficult for Jeanne. While hiking in September in UT (we have a second home in Park City) Jeanne slipped crossing a boulder field and sustained a significant tibial plateau fracture. She was airlifted out by helicopter to the Univ of Utah hospital. By the grace of God, the chief of orthopedic trauma surgery, whose specialty is tibial plateau fracture repair, was on call that weekend and operated on her the next morning. The staff told us she could not have had a better surgeon in the entire US! Recovery has been slow - no weight-bearing on that leg for 12 weeks - but she has now progressed to full weight-bearing and is transferring from a walker to a cane. The full recovery for this injury takes about a year.

Our best wishes to you and your family for a blessed Christmas and healthy new year.

Kay, it is good to get the update from Scott. What a rescue for his wife. Thanks, Scott for sharing!

I saw this post on FB from Wayne Haselden with a photo of their tree. Can others send in or post your photos? Should be fun to see the different decorations.

Merry Christmas, everyone.

Becky

Kay’s neighbor on Sherwood. He gives all donations to St. Jude.  He dresses up as Santa every year from after Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve and stands out in the yard talking to children and adults – rain or shine.

Thanks for sharing Kay!

The traffic on our two little cul-de-sacs is incredible during the holidays after 5:30, but the visitors are very accommodating to us residents. Sometimes our people have to turn on their flashers to get out or they get caught up in the Santa traffic.  There have been times we have been out for an evening stroll and someone will yell to us from the car and it is a friend from the past - once it was my husband's boss. At some point everyone's children have seen the lights on Sherwood.  This neighborhood is truly special.  K

Just a simple tree, one with lights on and the 2nd with them off. The thing I like about it so much, as you can see out the window of lights off picture, no other houses within 500 yards in any direction. If you like the city or development.........it's because you have never lived in the country!! My opinion of course.

Jimmy's tree - elegant!

Wayne and Jim: Your trees are beautiful!  I bet it's a beautiful sight driving up at night when the tree is lit and nothing else but darkness all around.  The lights are my favorite thing about Christmas - and the decorations. Merry Christmas all ya'll!

I'm still waiting to hear from some of you who would like to share your recipes. Thanks.

Try this decadent french toast with your sausage balls.  Babka bread is my new favorite thing. Is it bread or is it cake - no one knows...it comes in chocolate and cinnamon.  You can find it at Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and sometimes Publix and Harris Teeter around Christmas.

Not in my lifetime, Kay. It's a Clemson friend of mine that lives in Zirconia, NC. Sits on top of a mountain near the SC/NC line. Bears in his yard as much as deer are in mine. Beautiful place.

Got my self a new eagle for the new year. Had a 20+ year old winged HD bar & shield on my shoulder and just wanted something different. Sometimes hard to cover an old dark one cause the colors will bleed thru.

Please pray for David and Wylie Ann Sealy and their son, David Michael.

Message from David:

Our son, David Michael had a massive stroke Monday. He is 44 years old, single, and no children. He is on a ventilator in ICU. Wylie Ann and I are overwhelmed.
