Another update on Tyndall Estes:  Recently, Tyndall spent another three weeks at Piedmont Medeical in Rock Hill and is currently at the Post Acute Center off of Ebenezer Rd.  As you might remember, he had a brain infection this summer and spent 4 weeks either in the hospital or rehab. This time, he began to experience delusional episodes and became relatively unconsious for a week or so.  Although he is now conscious, he is not his normal self.  You might say, when was Tyndall ever normal?  Well, I will admit that Tyndall was the only person I ever knew who gave himself nicknames - 1) When he played quarterback, he was Y. A. Tyndall (named after Y. A. Tittle of the NY Giants) & 2 In geometry class, with his initials BTE, he was convinced  he had come up with a method to trisect an angle so he became Bisectus Trisectus Euclid. Tyndall and I have been friends ever since we were selected as 8th Grade all-stars in basketball, wound up in the same classes at RHHS, both graduating in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson, visiting each other at our various homes, spending 15 years going to the beach together, alternating weekends watching Clemson games at our houses since he moved back to RH, etc. This time, I think it's serious.  The doctors are having a tough time finding a dianosis with a good conclusion. Dementia is one of them. Please pray for Tyndall and pray especially for Janice who is trying to get him the best care possible and doesn't know what else to do.  Janice does not think he is up to visitors and I agree.  We spoke recently on the phone and the things he told me were fantastical to say the least.  I hate to report this but I know many of you know him well.  Let's hope for the best.

Thanks, Dennis, for the update.  It is so sad to hear this news. My prayers are with Tyndall and Janice. K

Thanks, for your update, Dennis. So sorry for Tyndell and Janice. It must be terrible to have to go through all this.
I'm sure it's difficult for you, too, to see your long time friend like this.
Prayers for peace to you all.

Dennis, thanks so much for the update on Tyndall.  I knew he wasn't doing well but I had no idea how serious his condition is.  Please keep us informed of anything Janice or others in the family might need or appreciate.  Prayers are foremost, of course. Tyndall and Janice are on so many prayer lists including mine.

Your remininscences about the old days made me chuckle and brought back a few other Tyndall memories.  Whiffle ball in the back yard.  The infamous "you know how many?" exam study session at my house.  Shooting pool at Clemson when drill got rained out (and a few other times, too).  Dance weekends at Clemson.

I was so saddened by your last post, but grateful in a way for the opportunity to reflect.  Tyndall is truly one of kind.  Thank you for sharing.

Another Tyndallism:  Once you were a Junior at Clemson and taking an elective class, a student had unlimited cuts.  Tyndall decided to see if he could pass without attending any lectures and only being there for the designated test days.  The professor never attended test days and geve that duty to a grad student.  Thinking that he had done well enough to pass at the end of the semester, he went by the professor's office to see his grade posted along with everyone elses's on his office door.  Beside his bame was an I (incomplete).  Tyndall arranged to see the professor..  On meeting the professor, the professor said, "Mr. Estes, you passed. I just wanted to see what you looked like!"  Those were the days,

as accident prone as I am I have Band-Aids in both cars on my tractor and my house in four rooms. And it doesn't help to be on blood thinners. Getting old is not for Sissies.

David, blood thinners don't help, but we are blessed with so ways to plug all the holes when we spring a leak.  Old age certainly isn't for Sissies. I love this Tee shirt which expresses my desire to not have to proove my ability to keep a stiff upper lip all the time. k

I posted this once before  but will do it again. When the '65 football Bearcats were on defence these two fellas were our cornerbacks. When those big offensive gaurds pulled on a sweep around end and some big fullback or speedy halfback was coming fast, these 2 Bearcats took the brunt of the punishment on hitting them first. Jimmy Laughridge and I at saftey would come pile on. Sometimes we got credit for the tackle which really was't fair.

Ernie , great to see you up and around !!!

Bill
